YWCA Olympia is accepting nominations for its Womxn & Business of Achievement awards until Aug. 17.

The term “womxn” is the label YWCA applies to a broader range of identities including women, girls, two-spirit, gender-non binary, and queer people.

The award was established in 1994 and seeks to recognize the accomplishments of both businesses and “womxn” that embody inclusion through professional contributions and public service. All nominees should exemplify the vision of a world where all people are valued, live free from oppression, and thrive in a just society.

For the individual award, nominations are sought for womxn who have leadership qualities, commitment to the community and/or their profession, work to eliminate racism and sexism, empower other womxn, and have advanced the political, social and/or economic status of womxn and girls.

For the business awards, nominations are sought from both large and small businesses that are actively working to create a more equitable workplace.

All nominees must be based in Thurston, Mason, and Lewis counties.

The online nomination forms are available on the agency website (www.ywcaofolympia.org). The forms are due by 5 p.m. Aug. 17. Honorees will be announced in early September. The celebration will be Nov. 10 at South Puget Sound Community College.
