Are you looking for ways to enter farming and/or to expand your expertise in raising livestock, growing a grain crop, producing fruits or vegetables, or beginning a shellfish operation? If so, you won’t want to miss the Whole Farm Planning Course.
Provided by the Washington State University Extension Thurston County, this 12-week course will provide practical information for planning your envisioned farm business.
Classes will be held Tuesday evenings from June 11 to Aug. 27 at the Thurston County Fairgrounds, 3054 Carpenter Rd S.E., in Lacey.
The course — which will cover such topics as introduction to soils, crop planning, equipment and facilities, integrated pest management, marketing and livestock management — will involve guest lectures from local farmers, field trips, and classroom instruction. Students will also develop a whole-farm plan during the course.
