The City of Tacoma’s Public Works Department has announced that it is holding on Jan. 13 a virtual open house about the 6th Ave. and South 19th St. Rail Crossing Improvement Project and the anticipated construction schedule.

The Zoom webinar will be held from noon to 1 p.m. To participate, click here for registration or dial-in information. This page also holds a map showing the general location of the rail crossings being evaluated.

This project will replace pavement and roadway striping, upgrade curb ramps to meet ADA requirements, update driveway entrances, and install sidewalks, fencing, and add new or relocate railroad gates and signals for vehicles and pedestrians. The City received federal and state funding for this work, and the construction is anticipated to begin in February/March 2021.

To send questions prior to the virtual open house or for more information on the project, contact project manager Mark D’Andrea at mdandrea@cityoftacoma.org or (253) 591-5518.
