TrueBlue, a provider of specialized workforce solutions, has appointed staffing industry veteran Garrett Ferencz to serve as chief legal officer, succeeding Jim Defebaugh who recently retired.
Ferencz, who joined TrueBlue in 2007, will continue to also serve as the company’s chief ethics and compliance officer.
Since joining TrueBlue, Ferencz has served in various legal and compliance leadership roles before becoming deputy general counsel and chief litigation officer in 2018. In his new role as chief legal officer, he will oversee all legal matters for TrueBlue worldwide, including strategic transactions, litigation, compliance, ethics, third-party risk, real estate, and government relations. He will also lead the company’s ongoing corporate citizenship efforts.
“Garrett is an accomplished business leader and litigator with an impressive track record of achieving company goals while ensuring that TrueBlue always puts our values first in everything we do,” Patrick Beharelle, CEO of TrueBlue, said in a release. “His extensive experience in global staffing and employment, strategic partnerships, risk mitigation, and compliance will help to further TrueBlue’s ongoing digital transformation and market leadership.”
Ferencz’s career includes litigating multiple cases in front of the U.S. Supreme Court, Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals, and various state courts across the country. Prior to TrueBlue, he was employed by international law firm Perkins Coie. Ferencz has also worked as a prosecutor and a civil rights and employment attorney.
