When the COVID-19 pandemic led to the order to close restaurants, Toscanos Italian Grill in Puyallup closed for just one day. On day two of the shutdown, Toscanos reopened with an entirely new, curbside “(Socially) Distant Dining” program. This program quickly saw support from the community and immediately Toscanos began a community program called “Giving Back & Paying it Forward.”
Each Monday, the Toscanos team spends its day off preparing and delivering meals for those in need in our community. Toscanos recognized that the term “in need” currently has a very broad definition and includes those working extra-long hours at the hospitals when they would normally be caring for their families. Those in need include first responders who are being put at an additional risk to ensure critical services are still delivered to citizens. Those in need include at-risk community members whose primary food sources have been disrupted, among so many others.
Recent deliveries have been made to St. Francis House in Puyallup, the Sumner and Bonney Lake fire departments, and Puyallup’s Good Samaritan Hospital.
