Approximately one million passengers hustle and bustle through Seattle-Tacoma International Airport during the week of Thanksgiving. We have some tips to help you travel safely and smoothly this holiday season.
According to Sea-Tac, the busiest travel days are Tuesday, Nov. 20 through Monday, Nov. 26 with the absolute peak travel times occurring on Tuesday and Wednesday as well as Sunday and Monday after the holiday. If your flight is booked on one of these days, get ready for a chaotic adventure.
Use all the Apps
Download the Sea-Tac Airport app to keep up-to-date on security line wait times, search for your flight information, or find your favorite restaurants and lounges. Sign up for text alerts to receive updates about what’s happening at the airport by texting “Update” to 206-347-8045.
Always Arrive Early
Leave at least two hours before your flight in case there’s a surge at security checkpoints, or if there’s a problem with your flight.
Beware of Traffic
Take the light rail, public transit, taxis, airport shuttles, or ride-share vehicles, or use a different route to avoid the clogged expressway. The airport parking garage is usually packed during the holiday season, so don’t expect to easily find a spot.
Sign up for Trusted Traveler Programs
TSA PreCheck, Global Entry, or CLEAR will help you move through the lines faster. These speedy programs apply to both domestic and international flights. Enjoy a faster experience with Automated Passport Control and Mobile Passport Control.
Try SEA Visitor Pass
Hang with your friends or family in the airport with the SEA Visitor Passes — a pilot program that allows a limited number of guests to go through security and spend time in the airport terminal.
While you’re at the airport, check out all the new amenities and additions at Sea-Tac, from the newly opened Concourse D Annex to recently opened dining and retail options.
