The Thurston Economic Development Council (EDC) announced the finalists for its business recognition awards. The EDC will honor five businesses with the following awards at a gala on May 30: New Business of the Year, Small Business of the Year, Nonprofit of the Year, Large Business of the Year, and Agricultural Business of the Year.

The Thurston EDC received more than 90 nominations for the awards. The finalists are:

Agricultural Business of the Year

Large Business of the Year

  • Medicine Creek Enterprise Corp
  • Port of Olympia
  • SCJ Alliance

New Business of the Year

  • Brows & Wows
  • Freshii West Olympia
  • Well 80 Artesian Brewing

Nonprofit of the Year

  • Big Brothers Big Sisters of Southwest Washington
  • The Bridge Music Project
  • Thurston Mason Behavioral Health Organization

Small Business of the Year

  • BrightWire Networks, LLC
  • Gabi’s Olympic Cards and Comics
  • Jason’s Greenhouse, Inc
  • La Gitana Olympia LLC (Pizzeria La Gitana)
  • Naked Prosthetics

The gala will be held at 5 p.m., May 30 at Indian Summer Golf and Country Club, 5900 Troon Ln SE, Olympia. Tickets are $75 and are available online.
