The Thurston County Board of Commissioners is holding a public hearing next month regarding a proposed emergency housing ordinance.
The hearing is 3 p.m. May 7 at the Thurston County courthouse, building one, room 280, 2000 Lakeridge Drive SW, Olympia.
The proposed ordinance would offer waivers to some existing requirements for homeless encampments to facilitate “effective and timely” services for the homelessness public health crisis established in a previous resolution.
More information on the proposal, including the full text of the ordinance, is available on the Thurston Community Planning and Economic Development website.
The public may submit written comments instead of verbal testimony at the hearing. The deadline for submitting written comments is 3 p.m., May 7. Written comments may be emailed to Associate Planner Ian Lefcourte at firstname.lastname@example.org, or may be hand-delivered or mailed to: Thurston County Community Planning and Economic Development, ATTN: Ian Lefcourte, Associate Planner, Thurston County Courthouse, Building One, 2000 Lakeridge Drive SW, Olympia, WA 98502.
