The Thurston County Chamber of Commerce will highlight people, politics, and policy during its annual candidates forum in October.

The event will feature a moderated discussion with Port of Olympia commission candidates Joe Downing and Helen Wheatley, and City of Olympia mayoral candidates Cheryl Selby and Nathaniel Jones.

“The races for Mayor and Port Commissioner are seen by many people as pivotal with regional significance,” said Thurston County Chamber of Commerce Public Policy Director Doug Mah, who will moderate the discussions. “These two elected positions, in particular, can directly shape the civic tone and reputation for our region.”

Attendees will have an opportunity to meet the candidates, as well as other business and community leaders, during the event, which will be held on Oct. 9, between 11:15 a.m. and 1 p.m., at Hotel RL Olympia, located at 2300 Evergreen Park Drive SW.
