The International Entertainment Buyers Association (IEBA) has named Kim Bedier, the City of Tacoma’s director of venues and events, this year’s venue executive of the year.

“This industry and the people I work with every day inspire me,” said Bedier, who was hired by the City of Tacoma in 2012, and oversees the Tacoma Dome, Greater Tacoma Convention Center, Pantages Theater, Rialto Theater, Theater on the Square, and Cheney Stadium. “It is a privilege to be part of an amazing team committed to delivering superlative service and making memorable experiences for all our guests at the Tacoma Dome. It is particularly exciting to receive recognition — for all of us — as we embark on the most exciting time as we debut the newly refreshed Dome.”

A four-month, $30 million renovation of the 35-year-old Tacoma Dome is wrapping up this month, and will offer all new seating, concessions, and additional restrooms for visitors, as well as new backstage quarters for artists, among other upgrades and improvements.

The IEBA, a non-profit trade organization for live entertainment industry professionals, presented the award during its 48th annual conference last week in Nashville.
