The City of Tacoma is seeking contractors to help determine the value and condition of Tacoma Fire Department’s fleet of fire boats.
The surveys will examine the conditions of each vessel’s engines, electrical systems, fire pumps, fuel lines, pilot houses, and safety equipment, as well as report on the conditions, market values, and costs to replace each diesel-powered vessel.
The vessels include the 70-foot Commencement, which was built in 1982 and completely overhauled in 2007. The 34-foot Destiny was built in 2012. It is owned by the Port of Tacoma and operated by the Tacoma Fire Department. The 51-foot Defiance was built in 2014.
The deadline to respond to the Request For Proposals expires on July 10.
A contract is expected to be awarded in August.
