The Tacoma City Council has announced that it is looking to fill five positions on the Human Services Commission (HSC) and is encouraging interested residents to apply.
The open seats include four member positions and one youth position for someone between the ages of 16 and 18. Those applying must submit their application to the city clerk’s office by the end of the day Nov. 30. Click here to apply.
The HSC conducts public hearings, accepts and reviews funding applications, rates project applications, and makes human services funding recommendations to the city council. The commission also serves as a resource to the city council and city staff for implementation of Neighborhood and Community Services Strategic Plans.
The commission comprises 15 members who are interviewed and recommended by the Community Vitality and Safety Committee and appointed by the city council. Membership must reflect the diversity of the community by way of race/culture, gender, age, socioeconomics, geography, and interest in commission membership.
