Now that “social distancing” has become a commonplace term, it’s understandable to be concerned over our community’s small businesses who are feeling the hurt of this unprecedented lockdown. Also, we all gotta eat, and that stockpile of packaged noodles has lost its luster. So, while still following general health and safety precautions, here are some suggestions for eating well and shopping local:

Food & Drinks To-Go
Despite the latest mandates on restaurants/bars, preventing people from dining at establishments, you can still order takeout and several of your favorites. These are new and recent updates to existing programs:
Quality Food Centers(QFC) and Tutta Bella Neapolitan Pizzeria have agreed to expand their grab and go offerings immediately amidst the coronavirus epidemic to meet the growing needs of a community in crisis. QFC will carry Tutta Bella Grab and Go Items in 31 stores throughout the area. Tutta Bella’s D’Asporto food truck will support this expansion by parking at neighborhood QFC locations on a weekly basis to bake and serve the concept’s long-famed Neapolitan pizzas. The food truck roll out begins this Wednesday at the U-Village location from 12 to 8 pm. People are advised to check Tutta Bella social media channels for location updates.
Locally owned and 4th generation run, Taco Time NW has 79 locations that are still open for business in the drive-thrus. Or use the order-ahead app and skip lines and have food delivered curbside.
Marzanos — Marzanos in Parkland is offering takeout on Italian classics. Call 253.537.4191 for curbside pickup and order online at GrubHub starting March 24.
Toscanos Italian Grill — Toscanos Italian Grill in Puyallup is offering a limited menu with curbside pickup. Menu options include family style meal favorites such as chicken fettuccine. Desserts also are available as well as 50 percent off bottles of wine to go. Orders will be taken between 1 and 5 p.m. by calling 253.864.8600. Pickups will be available between 4 and 8 p.m.
The Lobster Shop and Boathouse 19 — Both are offering takeout options from 12 to 7 p.m. daily. They are also offering bottles of wine to go. Order from Boathouse at 253.565.1919 and The Lobster Shop 253.759.2165.
Moctezuma’s — Order takeout and delivery and, as a bonus right now, kids eat free! Four locations including Tacoma and Gig Harbor.
Anthem Coffee & Tea —Get your caffeine fix to go at Anthem Coffee & Tea at various locations. Some locations are closed so check the website for updates and consider buying a gift card to support this local favorite.
Memo’s Mexican Food — On 6th Ave. in Tacoma, we recommend the carne asada fries! Drive-thru or get it delivered through Grubhub.
Pho King — Pho King is a Vietnamese restaurant located in Tacoma on M.L.K. Jr Way. Order pho to keep you warm and other items such as rice plates and spring rolls.
Wok Teriyaki IX — Wok Teriyaki IX offers pickup and delivery from their 2941 South Street location in Tacoma. You can opt to get their food delivered or pick it up directly.
Ezell’s Famous Chicken — Crispy comfort food at its best in Tacoma and other locations. Delivery is through Grubhub.
Go Philly — Authentic Philly Cheesesteaks in the South Sound area? Check! Order through delivery apps or go through the drive thru.
Farrelli’s Pizza — Get delivery or take out and save fees if you order directly from their website. Various South Sound locations.
