Tacoma is the top trending Gen Z city in the state, according to a recent study by RENTCafé.
RENTCafé is a nationwide apartment listing service and source for all things apartment-related.
To find the top trending locations for Gen Z, renters in each state, and the largest Gen Z hubs, RENTCafé analyzed 3 million rental applications in more than 40,000 apartment communities nationwide.
Based on the findings, Tacoma is the top new up-and-coming Gen Z hotspot in the state.
More specifically, the study found the following:
- Tacoma’s apartment applications submitted by young renters spiked up by 40 percent in 2020, making it the No. 1 up-and-coming Gen Z city in Washington state.
- Currently, 28 percent of renters living in Tacoma are Zoomers. By comparison, the share of Gen Z renters in Seattle is 17 percent.
- Following Tacoma, the state’s top trending Gen Z cities include Spokane Valley and Kennewick, who secured the second and third spots. The rental applications coming from this generation increased by 38 percent in both cities in just one year.
