The newest shop on Pacific Avenue, The Goods, opens at the Washington State History Museum on August 16.

If you’ve perused the museum in the last few months, you may have noticed a vacancy where the gift shop used to be. The Historical Society was on the hunt for an occupant who brought to life the values of community that the museum holds close.

Liz Van Dyke and Aaron Goodge, owners of Stocklist Goods & Gifts across the street from the museum on Pacific Avenue, are the perfect fit.

“We’re delighted that Liz and Aaron have decided to open another venue in our space,” Jennifer Kilmer, Washington State Historical Society’s director, said in a statement. “They’ve made wonderful connections with the community through Stocklist, and that dovetails nicely with the Historical Society’s mission.”

The Goods will carry locally-made items and souvenirs that relate to the history of the state. “They have already brought their unique style and perspective to the space and stocked it with thoughtful selections,” Kilmer said.

The new store will carry a bit of everything, including books, apparel, candy, and stickers.

“We are very excited to be opening The Goods at the museum. The opportunity to combine our passions for locally made and quirky gifts, accessible products, customer service, and equitable representation in a museum gift store was something we couldn’t pass up,” Goodge said in the statement.

Historical Society members will receive a ten percent discount at The Goods, and also at Stocklist.

For a sneak peek of the shop, you can visit the museum Saturday, Aug. 11 during the IN THE SPIRIT Northwest Native Festival. However, the grand opening of The Goods is set for Aug. 16.

“We thought Free Third Thursday would be a fitting day to celebrate our grand opening, Goodge said. “Both The Goods and the museum will be open until eight o’clock in the evening, and free admission starts at three o’clock. Our crew at The Goods is looking forward to your visit. We can’t wait to meet you.”
