Starting July 1, sales taxes will increase in the cities of Grand Coulee and Olympia.

Consumers in Grand Coulee will pay two-tenths of a percent more in sales tax, for a total of 8.1 percent. The increase will help pay for transportation costs related to a recently established transportation benefit district.

Olympia’s consumers will see an increase of one-tenth of a percent, bringing the sales tax rate to 8.9 percent. The extra funds will be used to cover housing costs and related services.
