Nearly 500 attendees representing companies that import and export food, farm, and fiber products gathered earlier this month in Tacoma for the Agriculture Transportation Coalition Annual Meeting hosted by the Northwest Seaport Alliance — marking the second consecutive year of record-breaking success.

The meeting, held this year at the Greater Tacoma Convention Center on June 11 to 14, is the largest gathering of agriculture and forest products transportation professionals in the United States. Attendees discussed critical issues related to exporting their products to international markets. Speakers addressed topics ranging from tariffs to trucker shortages to port operations.

This year’s activities included a boat cruise of Commencement Bay, tours of the NWSA’s South Harbor facilities in Tacoma and a reception for attendees. In 2018, the event generated nearly $500,000 in business sales and $15,000 in local tax revenue. Similar impacts are expected for the 2019 event, the Alliance stated.
