Public Works Accounting Manager Paul Scott has been named 2017 Employee of the Year by the City of Kent. Scott has worked with the city for over 25 years. In his current position, he manages the Public Works Department accounting and reporting systems, the city’s labor agreements, and the city’s financial policies. He also trains and supervises other employees in his department.
The Employee of the Year award is a peer-nominated, peer-selected honor. One of Scott’s coworkers described him in a statement as having “a very admirable managerial approach in the way he assigns responsibilities and how he works with each member of his staff.”
According to a statement released by the city, the recognition “honors employees who in the view of their peers, go above and beyond in the areas of performance, attitude, motivation, and dedication.” Each year, the honoree is chosen from more than 600 employees in 10 different departments.
Scott was presented with the award at the Mayor’s All Employee Breakfast earlier this year.
