Bellevue-based real estate and community development company Oakpointe Communities has officially started work on its new lifestyle center LakePointe Urban Village in Covington by breaking ground on the Covington Connector transit route.
Centered around a 20-acre lake, LakePointe comprises 214 acres of lakefront property and will eventually offer 1,500 new homes and approximately 850,000 square feet of retail, hospitality, and office space. It will showcase a mix of culinary, retail, and entertainment experiences, providing a social hub and gathering spot for both residents and visitors.
Kicking off the first phase of construction on the Covington Connector, which will constitute more than two miles of existing road improvement and new road extensions, is the first step toward breaking ground on LakePointe itself.
Phase one of work on the Covington Connector is expected to take approximately a year and will focus on the 204th Avenue Southeast portion of the project, with the signaled intersection being completed near the end of 2021. Phase two will include the Southeast 256th Street roundabouts at State Route 18, and phase three will be dedicated to the LakePointe Boulevard portion of the project.
