Dialysis provider Northwest Kidney Centers has opened its first clinic in Pierce County to serve patients battling kidney disease.
“We are happy to join the Pierce County medical community,” said Joyce Jackson, president and CEO of Northwest Kidney Centers, in announcing the news. “There is a high incidence of kidney disease in the South Puget Sound region. We want to make sure that people have good treatment alternatives when they need them.”
Located in Fife, the 9,660-square-foot clinic will administer blood-cleansing dialysis treatments and includes space to train patients to do self-dialysis on their own at home, and to visit for monthly checkups. Up to 60 patients will visit three times a week for treatments. A typical treatment takes about four hours. It can provide up to 9,400 treatments per year. When it is at full operation, the clinic will be open six days a week, including Saturday.
The Fife clinic is the third Northwest Kidney Centers facility to open in the South Puget Sound region since spring of 2018. Last year, two dialysis clinics opened in Federal Way.
Salus Architecture designed the clinic and general contractor Aldrich + Associates handled interior construction.
