WorkForce Central has published its most recent Wage Discrepancy Report, a document that demonstrates how wage disparities by gender and race show up in the local economy and outlines several recommendations for employers.

Based on its analysis, WorkForce Central has highlighted several steps employers can take to shift policies and practices that perpetuate wage disparities. These steps include, but are not limited to:

  • Set the wage for the job, not the person;
  • Publish the set wages or wage range with job postings from the beginning;
  • Default to curiosity as opposed to suspicion when you notice a gap on someone’s résumé; and
  • Be sure to market broadly and understand where disparities exist between and within jobs at your business.
