TractionSpace, a new coworking space located in Tacoma’s downtown Theater District, celebrated its grand opening on Wednesday, Jan. 29.
This business is the latest addition to Tacoma’s coworking community, offering local companies, entrepreneurs, and freelancers the resources of a Fortune 500 by bringing various on-site amenities to a shared office space.
Built in the 1920s, the property has been home to various businesses throughout the decades. The building’s history is quite extensive, and includes past tenants like Tacoma’s Azure Swimming Pool, the Tacoma Longshoremen’s Union Hall, a glass installation company, and numerous others. The current site features large scale historical photos, reminding new residents of what once resided there — including pictures of boys and girls at the Azure Swimming Pool in the main entryway.
The 15,000-square-foot coworking space is filled with natural light, eco-friendly materials, sustainable surfaces, and enterprise-grade spaces. Offering high-speed Wi-Fi, conference rooms, an entire video content production studio, and more, TractionSpace provides smaller businesses within the community an affordable work space that they typically might not be able to access or afford.
“I get excited about these new businesses because this is Tacoma, and Tacoma deserves the same kind of quality, the same kind of investment, and the same kind of technology that we see in other cities,” said Mayor Victoria Woodards at the grand opening event. “I am so excited to see us growing and getting businesses like TractionSpace. “
