Parking in downtown Tacoma is about to get a little easier. In an effort to lessen the stress of parking in southern downtown Tacoma, an area with highest parking demand (especially by the University of Washington campus), the City of Tacoma’s Parking Services is extending some of the time limits for parking zones.
Beginning Monday, Sept. 16, on Jefferson Avenue from South 17th to South 21st Streets, the parking has transitioned from the previously available 90-minute parking to two-hour parking.
Free, three-hour parking is available from Tacoma Avenue South to Market Street from South 17th to South 21st Streets.
The City’s Parking Technical Advisory Group has analyzed these areas and anticipates these changes will create more available parking in those areas.
