Residents of Kent now have access to a new 36,000-square-foot comprehensive family health clinic. The $17.5-million MultiCare facility was built by Abbott Construction and officially opened to the public last weekend.

The new building is replacing an older MultiCare clinic across the street on State Avenue. The healthcare organization stated that the outdated facility, which was built in the 1950s, will be demolished to make room for additional parking.

Included in the new clinic are expanded spaces for primary care, women’s health, occupational medicine, and urgent care.

According to a recent WalletHub study, Kent is one of the most diverse mid-sized cities in the country. MultiCare reports that in 2018, more than 2,000 appointments at the old Kent clinic were carried out in non-English languages.

Because of this, MultiCare implemented a real-time video translation system into every treatment room at the new clinic. The system allows patients and translators to see one another and communicate in more than 100 different languages via cameras and monitors in the rooms.

The new facility is located at 219 State Avenue North in Kent. For more information, visit www.multicare.org/multicare-family-medicine-kent.
