Gov. Jay Inslee has appointed Miguel Pérez-Gibson to serve as a new member of The Evergreen State College Board of Trustees.

Pérez-Gibson, an Evergreen graduate, worked as a field forester for 22 years before his career in public administration. He went on to serve as a top official at the Department of Natural Resources, five years as an advisor to the House Democratic caucus, and previously as legislative affairs director for Gov. Inslee.

“It’s been my pleasure and privilege to work with Miguel on a variety of state policy issues over the years,” stated Evergreen Board of Trustees Chair and former state Sen. Karen Fraser. “He will bring a wealth of experience and richness of perspective to the board.”

Pérez-Gibson’s education includes an associate of science degree from Peninsula College, a BA focusing on Native American studies at Evergreen, and a master’s in psychology from Saint Martin’s University. He is a licensed mental health counselor who has a private practice in Olympia, and is active as a musician and singer.
