Metro Parks Tacoma has announced that it is forming and accepting applications for a steering committee that will participate in the research and analysis of a proposed athletic fields complex siting project.

The steering committee will help guide efforts to determine possible locations for a regional sports complex that could potentially consist of lighted synthetic turf sport fields (striped for multiple sports), parking areas, restrooms, and other ancillary supporting infrastructure. In addition, the general public will be able to provide their input through a series of public meetings and workshops that will be held as the siting project progresses.

The goal of the steering committee will be to produce an updated recommendation in late spring. Previous recommendations include a 2016 athletic field study conducted by Metro Parks and the Tacoma School District, and a feasibility study conducted by an outside consultant team. Both can be found online.

Those interested in keeping informed of this project or serving on the steering committee should submit their contact information through the Athletic Fields Complex Siting Project interest online form.
