The McMenamins Elks Temple finally has an opening date: April 24, 2019. That may seem far away, but don’t worry: You can start making reservations on Dec. 5 at 8 a.m.
And you’ll probably want to. Well-deserved hype has stirred around the project since construction began in March — almost a decade after McMenamins first purchased the historic building. The space is intimate, with only 45 hotel rooms (each with a private bath), so it is likely to fill up quickly.
With the exterior restoration now complete, work on the interior of the building is well underway. Future guests can expect to see custom artwork and murals adorning the walls and antique fixtures.
Also to anticipate: a live music venue that seats 700, three restaurants, multiple small bars, a seven-barrel brewery, and a market and bottle shop. Perhaps most exciting is the secret bar and game room tucked under the sidewalk — after all, who doesn’t want to play furtive, underground games of pool?
If you’re interested in working at McMenamins Elks Temple, hiring calls will be hosted at the Tacoma Convention Center on Jan. 17, 2019 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. for management positions, and Feb. 11, 2019 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. for non-management positions.
If you’re interested in experiencing the Elks Temple as a guest, snag a room reservation by calling (425) 219-4370 starting at 8 a.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 5. Reservations are also available via mcmenamins.com.
