In business since 1988, Marine Floats designs, manufactures, constructs, and maintains marinas, moorage, and dock systems. The company builds everything from residential docks to commercial marinas, and delivers projects throughout the Puget Sound as well as around the world. Its waterfront location on the Wheeler-Osgood Waterway in Tacoma allows most projects to be assembled in the water and delivered by water, saving substantial on-site construction time. Marine Floats employs 25 people in roles that include carpentry, welding, design, and permitting — the latter of which has become a key focus since the listing of salmon under the Endangered Species Act in the late 1990s. Marine Floats has worked with homeowners, yacht clubs, ports, and industrial and manufacturing facilities in both saltwater and freshwater to create opportunities for people to enjoy the natural beauty of our Pacific Northwest waters. The company is committed to building projects that preserve healthy marine environments. Company President Wendell Stroud said: “We have turned our expertise in navigating the increasing complexity of the permitting process into a strategic advantage for our clients. Our comprehensive approach of taking projects from concept to completion — including consulting, design, permitting and compliance, manufacturing, and installation — saves our clients time and money and assures the highest-possible-quality results.”
