Built in Tacoma, family-owned Founder’s Choice Cabinets and Countertops officially launched in 2005 with local roots dating back to the early 1990s. The company maintains factory showrooms in Tacoma, Fircrest, and Tumwater and employs more than 80 craftsman, engineers, designers, and other industry professionals.

Founder’s Choice compares its environmental and ethical standards to many certifications and either meets or exceeds requirements. In 2019, the manufacturer partnered with the Washington Department of Ecology and Impact Washington’s Lean and Green program to focus on continuous improvement to reduce environmental and energy impacts.

The result of this endeavor was an operational cost savings of $112,000, a 20 percent reduction in VOC air emissions, hazardous waste reduction by 7,000 pounds, significant benefits in energy efficiency to the facility, and more.

In January, Founder’s Choice was awarded the 2020 Most Valuable Pollution Prevention (MVP2) multimedia award from the National Pollution Prevention Roundtable for its efforts.
