Kitsap Credit Union was awarded March 25 with an Economic Development Champion Industry Award.

This award recognizes Kitsap Credit Union as a leading Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) and for its dedication to save jobs and companies in Kitsap County.

The Kitsap Economic Development Alliance (KEDA) presented the award to Kitsap Credit along with the other top 2020 lenders that originated more than 100 loans in support of companies within Kitsap County.

“Strong local businesses have always been at the core of Kitsap County’s prosperity,” said Shawn Gilfedder, CEO of Kitsap Credit Union. “Our team stepped up and quickly implemented the programs and processes to facilitate the newly created PPP loans last year. This recognition reflects our employees’ hard work and commitment to our community and I’m proud to share this honor with them.”

Kitsap Credit Union opened its doors in 1934 and now has over 300 employees and 17 branches throughout Western Washington. Kitsap Credit Union has provided 385 SBA PPP loans, funding more than $16.3 million to area businesses.
