Shawn Gilfedder has been named President and CEO of Kitsap Credit Union.
A finance industry veteran who spent more than a decade as the head of McGraw-Hill Federal Credit Union in East Windsor, New Jersey, Gilfedder replaces Elliot Gregg, Kitsap Credit Union’s President Emeritus, who plans to retire in January.
“Shawn’s visionary and creative approach to leading is a perfect match for our credit union,” said Susan Baker, Vice Chair of the KCU Board of Directors, in a press release. “We were impressed with his integrity, genuine belief in the cooperative movement, and focus on member and community financial wellness. His leadership philosophy is forward-thinking and focuses on ‘peeking around the corner’ to always stay ahead of the curve. We are confident that Shawn will propel the credit union to new heights while honoring its rich history.”
Gilfedder earned an MBA in Global Business Management from Farleigh Dickinson University, and a bachelor’s degree in finance from William Paterson University. He serves on the board of directors for America’s Credit Union Museum, which aims to embrace the history of the credit union industry.
Headquartered in Bremerton, nonprofit Kitsap Credit Union has over 100,000 members, $1.2 billion in assets, and operates branch offices in Jefferson, Kitsap, Mason, and Pierce counties.
