For the past six years, Kitsap Bank has hosted a competition among the entrepreneurs of Western Washington. This year, the edg3 FUND competition will award one small business a grand prize of $25,000.

This amount was increased from $20,000 in previous years, and will be awarded to the local business deemed to have a positive economic, social, and/or environmental impact on the communities that Kitsap Bank serves.

There will be an additional $5,000 cash prize, the Community edg3 Award, that will be awarded to the submission that best embodies the spirit of community.

To enter the competition, contestants must fill out an online application and submit a two-minute video describing their business and how the $25,000 grand prize would help them achieve their entrepreneurial goals. Applications are open July 1 through July 31.

Once the application period ends, public voting via Kitsap Bank’s website will determine five finalists, with votes being tallied between September 23 and 30.

Finalists will have one more opportunity to make the case for their small businesses at an event during Global Entrepreneurship Week on November 21 at Kitsap Conference Center in Bremerton. There, an independent panel of judges will determine the grand prize winner.

Past participants of the edg3 FUND competition include an array of successful Western Washington businesses, including Kitsap Fresh, Sequim Bee Farm, Inclinata, OlyKraut, and Combat Flip Flops, to name a few.

Kitsap Bank was established in 1908 and is headquartered in Port Orchard, Washington. The bank operates 21 locations throughout Western Washington with more than $1 billion in assets. It is the 15th largest bank and sixth largest women-owned business in the State of Washington.
