The Kent City Council recently authorized $1 million of its federal CARES Act funds for Emergency Relief Grants to help the city’s small businesses.

Grant awards are set at $4,500 for eligible businesses. Eligible businesses must be located within Kent city limits, have no more than 15 full-time employees, have been negatively impacted by COVID-19, and have not received other COVID-19 related aid.

To remain impartial, the grant program will be administered by CRAFT3, a third-party community development finance institution, which will manage the application intake, evaluation, selection, and grant dispersal.

The application window opens July 13 and closes July 27. Applicants will be notified about grant decisions by mid-August.

The Green River College Small Business Center is available to help with the grant application as well as offer free, one-on-one advising.
