The Washington Association of School Administrators (WASA) recently presented Community Leadership Awards to individuals and organizations making a difference at schools and within their communities. One of those awards, presented by Steilacoom Historical School District No. 1, was given to two individuals from the Joint Base Lewis-McChord (JBLM) School Liaison Office for their significant contributions to the district.

“Aundrea (Witt) and Antoinette (Walker) are amazing partners. The Steilacoom Historical School District appreciates their commitment and dedication to our students,” said Steilacoom Superintendent Kathi Weight.

Witt and Walker accepted the award on April 27 during the WASA meeting in Fife.

According to a statement from the Steilacoom Historical School District, approximately 40 percent of students in the district are connected to the military. The JBLM School Liaison Office lends support to those students and their families as they transition to and from the base, helps with school enrollment, and provides course counseling.
