In tandem with its four-year anniversary, ilani broke ground last week on what will become a 14-story, almost 300-room hotel tower.

The tower, which marks the next phase of the Cowlitz Indian Tribe’s master development plan, is anticipated to open in 2023. The project, per an ilani release, was made possible through a collaboration with Salishan-Mohegan Development. The Cowlitz and Mohegan tribes have continued working together to master plan the Cowlitz reservation.

The hotel project’s architect is Las Vegas’ Friedmutter Group; Portland, Oregon-based Howard S. Wright is the general contractor.

“A hotel for ilani has long been part of our vision, and the past four years have been dedicated to putting all the necessary elements in place,” Philip Harju, chairman of the Cowlitz tribe, said in the release. “We are thrilled to celebrate four successful years of ilani by embarking on this latest venture.”

According to the release, the hotel will offer several luxury amenities including a full-service spa, an indoor and outdoor pool experience, a top-level restaurant, and more.
