PMF Investments, a Bellevue-based commercial real estate developer, announced Grocery Outlet will be moving into its recently renovated Tahoma Vista Shopping Center.

The 115,000-square-foot shopping center, which was built in 1968 and housed a Kmart until 2017, is located at 1414 East 72nd Street in Tacoma’s Portland Avenue Corridor.

Big Lots joined Tahoma Vista late last year, opening its doors in the old Kmart location in October 2018. Grocery Outlet will move into Big Lots’ former space, with plans to open during the first quarter of 2019. According to PMF Investments, negotiations are in progress for two remaining retail spaces.

“Revitalizing this property as a wonderful place for the neighborhood to gather and shop is our priority,” said Brian Franklin, PMF Investments’ president. “Additionally, we’re grateful for the city’s continued investments in the neighborhood and we hope this project will contribute to that effort.”

The city of Tacoma has worked with PMF Investments throughout the shopping center revitalization process.

“As the district’s council representative I am thrilled to see the private and public investments in the area,” said Tacoma City Councilmember Catherine Ushka. “The success of the Tahoma Vista Shopping Center is a wonderful part of our bright future, and I am grateful to partner with them for our community.”

PMF Investments’ improvements to the property include interior and exterior remodels of both the Grocery Outlet and the Big Lots spaces and the addition of green-building features, including energy-efficient HVAC systems and lighting.

Tahoma Vista also features a Taco Bell, an O’Reilly Auto Parts, and a Burger King.
