If you’ve ever dreamed of being on Gig Harbor’s Civil Service Commission, you’re in luck. The city just announced it is looking for residents to serve six-year terms.

Members of the Civil Service Commission provide direction for the establishment of eligibility lists for classes of positions in the police department, certify those lists for hiring purposes, hear complaints regarding any examination and other related matters, and keep appropriate records. Civil Service Commission members do not receive any compensation from the city, and must meet at least once a year, and possibly more.

If you are interested in serving on the commission, send a cover letter and application to Kameil Borders, HR Manager, in person, by mail to 3510 Grandview Street, or by email to bordersk@cityofgigharbor.net. Make sure your application arrives by Aug. 3 at 3:30 p.m. For more information, contact Borders at (253) 851-5039.
