“The Harbor Hill Drive extension is a much-needed improvement to traffic flow between downtown Gig Harbor and the Harbor Hill area,” Mayor Kit Kuhn said in a statement. Project improvements include the construction of a new roadway and two roundabouts with accompanying storm drainage, sidewalks, pedestrian guardrails, landscaping, and street lighting.

The project was funded by a Washington State Transportation Improvement Board grant, City Traffic Impact fees, and Hospital Benefit Zone taxes.

David Evans & Associates designed the extension and Ceccanti, Inc. was the general contractor on the project.

The city will host a ribbon cutting ceremony at 11 a.m. on Aug. 11 at the intersection of Harbor Hill Drive and Sentinel Drive. Parking will be provided at the Tom Taylor Family YMCA at 10550 Harbor Hill Drive.
