It’s time for Kitsap’s Bank 2020 edg3 FUND Awards, a tradition that recognizes small businesses dedicated to growing their community economically, socially, and environmentally.
This year, small businesses have been forced to navigate COVID-19-related health impacts and economic precarity. In 2020, the edg3 FUND awards are noting how small businesses have persevered.
On Nov. 20, Kitsap Bank will announce the 2020 winners during a virtual event. This year, there are more prizes to go around: the $25,000 edg3 FUND Grand Prize, the $10,000 Innovation Award, the $5,000 Community edg3 Award, and the $5,000 Public Favorite Award. The voting window begins Oct. 26 and concludes Nov. 6.
Amma’s Umma, in Port Townsend, is one of eight finalists.
The lifestyle boutique’s name means “A Mother’s Kiss.” Since forming, the business has sought to employ moms in need, giving them an opportunity to create a loving, safe family for their children and help take them out of the cycle of poverty. Amma’s Umma also wants to give its customers a chance to feel confident and proud when shopping at Amma’s Umma.
The boutique additionally sources from certified fair-trade companies and smaller companies that follow fair trade principles.
Winning the edg3 FUND would be a “dream come true” for Amma’s Umma, said owner Chelsea Winfield.
Winfield said her business has grown out of its current space, and that she would love to open a larger location where “we can do more of what we love most — creating community, bringing people together, and activating change both locally and globally.”
Make sure to vote between Oct. 26 and Nov. 6 here for your favorite of the eight edg3 FUND finalists. The business with the most votes will receive the $5,000 Public Favorite Award.
