The Thurston County Chamber of Commerce’s 114th annual meeting will feature a keynote address by a former U.S. ambassador to Switzerland.
Suzan “Suzi” LeVine, who served as U.S. Ambassador to Switzerland and Liechtenstein from 2014-17 at the request of President Barack Obama, will deliver the keynote address. More recently, LeVine was appointed commissioner of the state’s Employment Security Department one year ago by Gov. Jay Inslee.
LeVine has “extensive experience in workforce development, apprenticeships and the future of work,” according to a press release from the chamber. “As ambassador, she was instrumental in collaborating with more than 30 companies to expand the Swiss style apprenticeship model into the United States.”
LeVine served as a member of Inslee’s Career Connect Washington Task Force, and served as a delegation co-chair of Inslee’s study mission to Switzerland in 2017.
The meeting is 11:30 a.m., May 8 at Hotel RL, 2300 Evergreen Park Dr SW, Olympia, WA 98502. Reservations are required and can be made by visiting the Thurston Chamber’s website.
