Experience Olympia & Beyond received the Destination Marketing Accreditation Program seal at this summer’s Destinations International conference.

The accreditation, awarded by the trade association, “recognizes the organization’s commitment to industry excellence and meeting the industry standard for performance and accountability of destination organizations,” the Thurston County Chamber of Commerce said in a statement on Tuesday.

To earn the distinction, Experience Olympia & Beyond was required to comply with performance standards spanning management and marketing to human resources, sales, and communications. The organization is among roughly 200 to hold the distinction, according to the chamber.

“Our industry sets high standards, and we are honored to officially be an accredited destination marketing organization,” said Shauna Stewart, CEO of Experience Olympia & Beyond. “Our team and board have been dedicated to achieving this goal and worked tirelessly to make it happen. We are truly celebrating this accomplishment.”

The agency, which markets Olympia and elsewhere in Thurston County to both visitors and professionals like meeting planners and tour operators, recently completed a branding effort. As a result, it now has a new brand, website and videos.
