The official destination marketing organization of Thurston County and Thurston County’s Sports Commission, Experience Olympia & Beyond, is enhancing its services to visitors with a new, multi-faceted visitor services model.
The expansion was determined after a board commission evaluated the existing services, and recommended revisions due to key indicators such as an increase in the reliance on technology.
“The new model is modern, allowing us to stay inline and ahead of industry trends as well as maximize stakeholder investment to have the greatest impact,” said Michael Davidson, Experience Olympia & Beyond’s board president.
The new model launches Sept. 23, and includes:
- A call center with expanded hours through a partnership with the Hands On Children’s Museum.
- A text and website chat option to answer frequently asked questions any time of day.
- Regional visitor information centers through partnerships with Lacey South Sound Chamber, Olympia Downtown Association, Encore Teas & Chocolates, and Yelm Area Chamber of Commerce.
- A certified tourism ambassador training program that informs county residents to answer visitor questions about the region, which will be offered through Leadership Thurston County in partnership with the Thurston County Chamber.
