The ports of Tacoma and Seattle, along with Long Beach, Los Angeles, Oakland and Portland will join BNSF Railway Company and Union Pacific Railroad at the World Shipping Summit in Qingdao, China, Nov. 11-13.

Their presence will showcase the benefits of the U.S. West Coast for transpacific trade Together, the West Coast ports handle approximately 70 percent of the containerized trade between Asia and the United States.
Meanwhile, Port of Tacoma commissioners have scheduled three public meetings to consider the agency’s 2010 budget, cargo forecast, finance plan and tax levy. The Nov. 12 meeting will include a more in-depth look at cargo forecasts, capital building plans, tax levy and the 2010 budget.
