The Thurston Economic Development Council is opening its doors next month to highlight one of its local partnerships.

An open house at the group’s Center for Business & Innovation is set to spotlight the Thurston Community Economic Alliance (TCEA) on Wednesday, Feb. 7, 2018.  The TCEA “leverages broad-based, county-wide public and private partnership to coordinate economic development activities; identify goals to attract investment; and develop a long term strategy to diversify the regional economy.”

“No such plan has existed before in our community,” said the EDC in a press release. “Leaders representing local government, non-profits, educational institutions and the greater Thurston business community have been participating in multiple strategy sessions and task forces.  Such a coordinated effort will help identify common economic development goals, align community resources and clarify the actions and roles community partners take to build a resilient and vibrant economic base.”

The EDC describes the event as an opportunity to have your voice heard by TCEA leadership. Those in attendance can network with the five focus group leaders of the partnership: Cheryl Fambles of PacMtn Workforce Development; Kyle Wiese of the EDC; Celia Nightingale of the Center for Business & Innovation; David Schaffert of the Thurston County Chamber of Commerce; and Shauna Stewart of the Visitor & Convention Bureau.
