The Thurston Economic Development Council’s Center for Business and Innovation announced today the launch of the Thurston Investment Network — or ThINK, for short.

ThINK is a membership-based network designed to help members connect with local businesses and engage in local lending and borrowing. Through ThINK, people with a desire to have a local component to their investment portfolio have an opportunity to connect with local business owners who are seeking capital.

The program’s focus will be on individual direct lending, not on equity investment; those interested in joining will need to attend a training session, agree to network principles and lend within specified parameters. Lenders will have an opportunity to learn of businesses who are seeking capital, and given the opportunity to connect with them directly.

An information night is set for 5:30-7:30 p.m.  Wednesday at the Center for Business & Innovation, 4220 6th Avenue SE, in Lacey. Training for individuals interested in becoming ThINK members and lending to local small business is scheduled for Thursday from 9-11:30 a.m., with training for businesses interested in receiving loans set for 1-3:30 a.m. the same day.
