The Thurston Economic Development Council has announced that the Thurston Investment Network’s first 'Opportunity Night” will be held on Monday, giving area residents a chance to become part of the newly formed local investment network.
A membership-based network, the Thurston Investment Network (ThINk) is a model where Thurston residents can lend money directly to local businesses. The Opportunity Night event, which will go from 5:30-8pm at the Center for Business and Innovation/SPSCC Lacey Campus – 4220 6th Avenue SE, Lacey — will include a session where three locally-owned businesses will pitch their investment opportunities.
A release from the EDC touts ThINk as a “buy local” initiative of sorts, where members can receive interest income on their loan while helping local businesses grow. Those interested in joining will need to attend a training and agree to network principles. Members are under no obligation to make loans, but should they choose to, interest rates and terms are negotiated directly between them and the business borrower.
