South Sound-based RAM Restaurant Group, which operates The RAM Restaurant and Brewery locations in six states, participated in the Ales for ALS national fundraising campaign for the third year, raising a total donation of $20,173.

The RAM donates $1 to the initiative, which raises money for ALS research, for every pint sold of its IPA 4 ALS specialty brew.

“We are so excited to break the $20,000 raised mark for ALS in 2017! We brewed 100 barrels of IPA 4 ALS and sold the batch out in just over 4 weeks,” said Dave Leonard, director of brewing operations. “This year’s hop blend featured Citra, Loral and a few experimental varieties to create tropical fruit notes in the beer. It was amazing to see our guest’s excitement for this beer and excitement to support such a great cause.”

The Ales for ALS program was created by Loftus Ranches and Hopunion in Yakima. Loftus provides an experimental one-of-a-kind hop pellet blend, free-of-charge, to participating brewers to create a beer for the campaign.
