Crowdsourced navigation app Waze has added a familiar name to its growing list of partners: the Tacoma Dome.

The Tacoma venue is the 100th member of the Waze Global Event Partner Program, which has amassed that membership in less than one year since its launch. The program is the app’s traffic management program for large-scale event organizers, enabling communication with local drivers, real-time road closures, and up-to-the-minute routes to support a better event experience.

The Dome is looking forward to utilizing Waze technology “to provide accurate and timely guidance to events at the Tacoma Dome,”said Kim Bedier, director for Tacoma Venues & Events, City of Tacoma. “We are committed to delivering an outstanding fan experience including proactively providing ticket holders with information and resources to navigate the growth and development surrounding the Dome.”

Those resources include a growing suite of tools that utilize the Waze app, like day-of-event data insights to inform real-time road closures or embedding Waze navigation instructions to a specific lot in an emailed parking pass.

“Waze is thrilled to celebrate 100 partners in less than a year, achieved by crafting a program that alleviates two of the biggest pain points faced by large-scale event organizers: traffic and parking,” said Rebecca Resnick, Waze Global Event Partner Program lead. “This program provides a seamless experience for fans the minute they get in the car, with easier travel to and from events, thus improving fan engagement from all angles. We look forward to continued growth as the GEP adds tools to further innovate the event management platform.”
