Will your job be here in 10 years, or do you need to develop new skills to stay relevant?

That’s the question being asked at an upcoming meeting of the Tacoma chapter of Accounting & Financial Women’s Alliance, with a discussion keynoted by Erick Watson, chief product officer of artificial intelligence firm Quantarium.

Watson previously spent a decade at Microsoft, where he led successful initiatives in research and development, competitive strategy, and market development. He will talk about the latest developments in artificial intelligence, blockchain technology, data analytics and machine learning.

These artificial intelligence and data analytics topics of are particular interest to the new department — the Center for Business Analytics — started this year at the Milgard School of Business at the University of Washington Tacoma. The school is presenting the talk, set for Monday, Feb. 12 at LaQuinta Inn, 1425 East 27th Street, Tacoma, in conjunction with the AFWA.

“Artificial intelligence is changing the way business is done,” said Tacoma AFWA President Dana Freeland. “The impacts will be far-reaching on our local job market and our community.”
