Visitors industry players in the Greenwater, Crystal Mountain and east side of Mount Rainier will be in business this weekend. And the weather forecast suggests it might be a good time to visit the mountain, before the crowds of “true” summer arrive.

Officials at Mount Rainier National Park confirmed today that public access to the Sunrise area on the east side of the park will open this Friday, June 5. Restroom facilities will be available, too.

However, Sunrise Lodge and Visitor Center will not open until later this month when season staffing is on board. And Ohanapecosh Visitor Center is scheduled to open June 26. Other than the locations mentioned here, all other areas of the national park are already open for the summer season.

Private sector provided lodging, food, gifts and activities are available year round outside the park. Check these web pages for more information.
